Weekend in Oregon!

These are the sweet little faces that we said "good-bye" to this past Thursday before taking off on a weekend away. Here Chloe smiles big for the camera.

Claire shows how she loves to eat lizards. :):)

Papa just might be explaining to them that we will be gone for a few days. But then again, he might just be entertaining them.

Two little faces. Behind them you can see some roses that were part of an anniversary celebration that Mike and Paula had this past week. Claire stood looking at the roses and babbled some big long sentence which included, very clearly, "Mommy, Daddy, flow-flow", "Mommy, Daddy, flow-flow", (flow-flow is her version of flower). Obviously she got the concept that those flowers had something to do with Mommy and Daddy. I thought it was amazing.

On our way to Oregon, we stopped in Eureka for the night and had breakfast on Friday morning with our dear friend Susan. She took us to a charming little place called Gill's By the Bay. Below are some shots of flowers and the setting. We ate outside on a beautiful sunny morning. The flowers were new to Norm and I and are called Godetia and are apparently grown primarily in coastal areas. They were stunning.

Next stop was Fern Canyon a long-time favorite place for our family. We were first introduced to the location by our friends Susan and Billy many years ago. We hiked into the canyon and enjoyed again the beautiful ferns and water and serenity.

We stayed in Gold Beach at Ireland's Rustic Lodge. We had never stayed there before and it was an interesting experience. The cabins are very old, and quaint, but clean. Below is the fireplace in our cabin and the following picture is the view from our window towards the ocean.

The highlight of our trip was a jet boat excursion up the Rogue River with Jerry's Rogue Jets. It is a repeat activity for us, we have done it several times previously, and always loved every minute. Below our boat is engaging in a water fight with some rafters going the opposite direction. Our captain was full of energy and antics and we laughed the whole day. We got wetter than we ever have before, but that just made it more fun. The rafters, as well as our boat, were equipped with a few water guns...long tubes that suck up water and then squirt quite a distance.

We had dinner up river at the Singing Springs Lodge. Below are our friends that enjoyed the weekend with us. Standing are Connie and Wayne and seated Chris and Earnie. Along the trip we saw deer, osprey, bald eagles, a bear, and many other ducks and birds. It was a very refreshing weekend. It is good to be home however, and tomorrow I see the girls again. Can't wait!
