Before fishing he packed in a huge breakfast of waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit, and milk. Wow, I couldn't believe it. I asked him if he wanted a little bib to keep his fishing shirt clean and surprisingly, he said he did.
Our first fishing spot didn't yield any fish for our little group or anyone else in the area. Chris, however, intently watched his bobber waiting for a fish to take it under. He had a hard time not reeling it in and even though we all told him to just let it rest it was hard for a three year old to do. There was a lot of "casting" for his pole. The first picture shows him chomping on his deer stick from Uncle Superman's deer but still doing a great job of holding his pole.
We eventually moved to another spot to try our luck and he spent some time helping Papa with his pole before he fished on his own again. I love the third picture of them fishing side by side.
Unfortunately for us, it wasn't a good fishing day. Chris had a bit of a meltdown when he realized it was time to go home and we were fish-less. I think Papa and Uncle Superman may have felt like having meltdowns too, but they managed to control themselves. :) Chris promptly fell asleep in the car and slept through a lunch stop all the way home.
He was well rested by the time we reached our house and so he did some outside activity again as well as some art projects.
Paula sent me a couple of pictures from the past week. The kids at the park, as well as one of Claire getting ready to use her certificate for student of the week. I mentioned last week that she had received the award for the virtue "Integrity". We are so proud of her and today I read on the school website that her response and comment to winning was, "My brain tells me to do the right thing". Bless her heart, I trust that will be something her brain continues to tell her for the rest of her life.
Mike sent a couple of pictures from one of the birthday party events yesterday. The girls appear to be having a great time.
One of the funny things of Chris' visit happened Friday night. We often, maybe a couple of times per week, use Facetime to talk on our Ipads. Friday night the girls called Chris to chat and his initial response to them was, "Why are you calling me?" Claire quickly told him that she missed him but he was a little too busy to care. I guess he might have enjoyed the time away from the girls. :) He did tell Papa a couple of times that he was going to stay at our house forever. He quickly forgot that however, when he saw his Daddy this morning. Boy was he happy to see him.
Lots of memories for us! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
